This team will act as a “Workflow Clinic” by offering the experience and competencies of FONDA to external partners. The need for such a clinic became clear during the many contacts we had in phase I to other researchers who face pertinent problems when trying to perform large-scale data analysis, often due to a lack of knowledge regarding the required technologies and existing workflow systems. Requests encompassed issues with running systems and uncertainties about how to approach such a setting best. Seriously helping them requires experts in such topics that accompany the external projects over a longer period.
We envision that PhD students from participating subprojects will be assigned to one external partner to support them in workflow technologies. FONDA members will not start heavy implementation work but help the partner to reach their goals and solve infrastructure issues by providing advice. An important aspect of this team is the establishment of long-running collaborations with external partners that could form the nucleus for transfer projects in FONDA’s third phase.
